Experience & Training

Dr Schlosshan has over 15 years of experience in managing all aspects of cardiac disease. He has been a consultant at the Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust since 2010. He has reported and overseen thousands of non-invasive cardiac imaging assessments.

 
 

Training

After completing his undergraduate training in Germany, Dr Schlosshan came to the UK in 1997. He completed his training in the UK, Germany and Australia. 

Dr Schlosshan was awarded an NHS research fellowship to study novel markers of cardiac function in patients with heart failure and was awarded a doctor of medicine from the University of Leeds with commendations in 2008.

Dr Schlosshan spent one year in one of the leading teaching hospitals in Sydney,Australia, where he received specialist training in advanced cardiac imaging including cardiac CT and 3D echo.

 

Current Professional Profile
Trainer, Research and National Representation

Dr Schlosshan trains many junior doctors. He has trained several imaging consultants in Yorkshire in advanced imaging and continues to attract international fellows from Europe, Australia and New Zealand.  

He gives invited lectures at national and international cardiac conferences including the British Cardiac Society, British Heart Valve Society and the British Society for Echocardiography.   

Dr Schlosshan is very active in cutting-edge clinical research in cardiac imaging and heart valve disease and has published over 25 articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals including the Lancet.  Dr Schlosshan participates in clinical trials for novel “keyhole” technologies to treat heart valve disease.

  • National adviser for Cardiology for Nuffield Health 

  • Co-chaired the publication of the first national blue print on Network based care for heart valve disease 

  • Member of the NHS advisory group for heart valve disease   

  • Member of the NHS Mitraclip policy working group
